The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into the shooting. As a result of the incident, the main gate at the CIA headquarters has been temporarily closed.
The CIA headquarters is situated in Langley, Virginia, approximately nine miles outside of Washington, D.C.
