A man in Sydney reportedly woke up to find his wife stabbing their three children in the middle of the night, police say.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, a 47-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her three sleeping children, aged 10, 13 and 16, before their father stopped her by taking the knife away and calling the authorities on Monday, March 31.
“Upon waking up to what I would believe to be a number of screams and yells, he’s then gone to approach the situation, and from what I am told, has secured the weapon, and he’s contacted police,” Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore said in a statement, per the outlet.
The woman, who also sustained suspected self-inflicted stab wounds in her abdomen, was charged at Westmead Hospital in Sydney.
New South Wales Police confirmed in a press release on Monday that the woman had been charged with three counts of wounding or grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.

Authorities added, “They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.”
