French authorities are seeking an 18-month suspended sentence against French actor Gérard Depardieu on sexual assault charges, according to several reports.
The Paris prosecutors office requested the sentence against Depardieu, 76, on Thursday, according to reports from Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter.
Depardieu, who is currently on trial for charges that he sexually assaulted two women, could also face a €20,000 fine (roughly $21,500), the outlets reported.
The French actor is on trial over accusations that he groped a 54-year-old set dresser and a 34-year-old assistant director during the making of the 2022 film, Les Volets Verts (The Green Shutters), according to The Associated Press.
Depardieu could have faced up to a five-year prison sentence and a fine of €75,000, (about $81,000), PEOPLE previously reported. His trial is ongoing.
Depardieu has faced more than 20 other allegations of sexual assault over the years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The outlet reports that Depardieu could be back in court later this year to face rape allegations made against him by actress Charlotte Arnould.
Depardieu has denied the allegations of sexual assault.
The 54-year-old set dresser alleged in court that Depardieu had trapped her in between his legs while she was trying to move past him in a narrow hallway, testifying that he began “palpitating” her behind and then grabbing her chest, the AP reported.
