Rumors have swirled about Kamala Harris’s next move after her devastating failure in the 2024 election. The former VP has reportedly suggested starting a think tank, which drew widespread derision from conservatives online, who mocked the Democrat for her inability to speak clearly on the campaign trail.
For context, Kamala Harris was widely seen as unpopular and vapid even before her run for the White House. During her tenure as Joe Biden’s vice president, Harris became infamous for embarrassing gaffes and poor public speaking.
Beginning the mockery, Andrew Stiles, who writes for the Free Beacon, posted an excerpt from a New York Times article on April 11, 2025. The passage read, “She and her husband are weighing each new opportunity with the potential political blowback in mind. One possibility: establishing an institute for policy and ideas. Brian Nelson, an adviser to Ms. Harris since she was California’s attorney general, has broached the idea with several universities, including Howard and Stanford. ”
In the caption to this post, Stiles added his own sarcastic commentary. He said, “Kamala Harris, known for her deep knowledge and ability to articulate complex issues, is thinking about launching an institute for policy and ideas.”
Incensed by the biased puff piece, conservatives took to the comments to mock the failed Democrat. One such comment read, “Job 1: Finding some ideas and learning what policy is.” Another added, “I’ve a feeling unless Venn diagrams, Yellow School buses and a deep and philosophical understanding of the significance of time is part of the syllabus, it might be destined to fail. But let’s give it some time to develop and allow ourselves to be unburdened by it. 🙄”
Joking about Harris’s odd speaking style, one user mimicked her by posting, “You see, an institute is a PLACE. You see? And in this PLACE, we will share ideas. Ideas about policy, yes. Ideas about…really, even ideas about ideas. Because a wise man once said an idea is like a thought. But only in the context of this thought, do you truly have…an idea”
Taking a more serious tack, some accounts wondered if this think tank might be a Clinton-esque corruption scheme. One such comment said, “Same as the Clinton foundation. You provide money laundering and influence-peddler-finder services, claim you are a charitable foundation, and keep a healthy commission for yourself in the form of “advisory fees.’”

Building on that point, one reply questioned how Harris was gathering financial backing so quickly. The comment read, “The fact that there are elite academic schools lining up to host Kamala Harris and her “institute for policy and ideas” despite the fact that she has no policy accomplishments whatsoever tells you exactly how committed to left-wing ideology universities have become.”
Rounding out the comments, some users joked about what the proposed think tank would look like. One reply said, “Welcome to the Harris Institute on Policies, and Ideas, we have policies on ideas, and ideas about policies, we’ll focus our policies around our ideas, and our ideas will be policy focused.” Another said, “Ah yes, The Searching For Policies from History to Present to Find Policies in Historical Context That Can Be Used in the Future Policies of Democrats Institute and Wine Bar. Open 27 Hours a Day.”
