However, he chose to forgo a professional football career to focus on his passion for duck hunting. In 1972, he founded Duck Commander, a company specializing in duck calls, which later became the centerpiece of the family’s reality TV fame.
Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017, showcased the lives of the Robertson family and their business, becoming one of A&E’s most popular programs. The show highlighted their strong Christian faith, family values, and Southern lifestyle.

His daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, shared the news of his passing on social media, stating, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.” She added that the family plans to hold a private service, with details of a public celebration to be announced later.
Robertson is survived by his wife of nearly six decades, Marsha “Miss Kay” Robertson, their four sons—Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep—and numerous grandchildren. His legacy continues through his family’s ongoing media ventures, including the upcoming series Duck Dynasty: The Revival, set to premiere in the summer of 2025.
