“When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg. Officers rendered aid and he was transported to Grady Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” said police.
Police could not locate the woman at the residence and said why the men fled is not known. They confirmed that there was no shooting by police in the incident, per 11Alive.
Scooter’s family confirmed his death in the incident, Atlanta News First reported. However, his cause of death has not been confirmed at this time.
Scooter was born in Walterboro, S.C., and moved to Kirkwood Community in Atlanta at age nine. In 2008, he pursued a music career following a drug trafficking charge, collaborating with his childhood friend Future, 41, on several songs before signing with him in 2012, per Variety.
Waka Flocka, who Scooter signed in 2013, appeared to pay tribute to the late rapper on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Street, you had me crying before my show …you the backbone … dama brada.”
Rapper Playboi Carti reacted on his Instagram Stories writing, “SMFH.” Quavo wrote on X “ion understand,” alongside a video of Scooter performing and a broken-heart and prayer-hands emojis.
