Four students were hospitalized following a shooting at a Dallas high school, leading to a large police presence at the school on Tuesday, April 15.
Multiple outlets, including ABC News, WFAA and CBS 19, reported that police responded to Wilmer-Hutchins High School after a report of an active shooter.
Citing law enforcement sources, WFAA reported that the incident unfolded just after 1 p.m. By 2:15 p.m., the school was secured, according to the outlet.
The outlet reported that one victim is a 17-year-old male and is in stable condition, but that authorities did not provide additional details on his injuries.
Fox 7 reported that four students were taken to the hospital, but that Dallas Mayor Pro Tempore Tennel Atkins said three of the four were shot. The injuries are thought to be non-life-threatening.
ABC, citing law enforcement sources, reported that preliminary information suggested that the incident was student-on-student violence rather than an active shooter situation.
Students were evacuated from the school, the outlets reported.
It is not clear if police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting.
