Suspect shot by Secret Service in ‘armed confrontation’ near White House identified

The Secret Service shot a man during an armed confrontation near the White House Sunday, the agency announced. The incident unfolded just after midnight, about a block west of the White House near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
