Ukrainian citizens are standing with their country’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday, after his heated meeting with US President Donald Trump the day before.
Nataliya, a 52-year-old pensioner, told CNN that she liked how Zelensky behaved, saying that “he stood his ground” and “defended our honor and dignity.”
She called Trump a “clown,” adding that she expected more from him. “He does not want to listen to our position. He only thinks about the material part. He cares about finances, not people,” she said.
Serhiy, a 40-year-old lawyer, told CNN that Zelensky “looked decent and defended Ukraine’s interests,” but said that Trump’s behavior was “not the behavior of a leader of a democratic country.”
Yaroslav, a 36-year-old farming technologist said that he was “outraged” by how Trump acted. “I was hoping that he would have a fruitful meeting with Zelensky, that they would sign an agreement and that he would support Ukraine. But what happened is what happened,” he said.
“It’s sad. We’ll see what happens next and where it all leads,” Yaroslav added.
