Brave Mark Wright intimidated burglars who broke into his and Michelle Keegan’s home without leaving his wife’s side.
The couple were at their Essex home when it was targeted by raiders on Tuesday night. It’s claimed they were alerted to the incident after hearing a patio window being smashed, before security alarms started ringing. Four suspects targeted the lavish £3.5 million property and police have since launched a full investigation.
Thankfully, nothing was taken from the home and the suspects all rushed out within minutes after Mark’s quick thinking to protect his heavily pregnant wife deterred them from continuing. Michelle, 37, and Mark, also 37, locked themselves in a bedroom after hearing the window being smashed.
While both Michelle and Mark were left “very shaken” by the incident, both were reassured when local police officers arrived at the home in less than ten minutes after their advanced security alarms alerted law enforcements. Sources claim that Mark’s first thought was to protect Michelle and their unborn child.
The star, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex, quickly started yelling at the four individuals from behind the locked bedroom door in a bid to scare them off. “His first thoughts were for Michelle’s protection and he acted swiftly,” a source told The Sun. They went on to add: “It was a traumatic experience for both of them but they are relieved that neither of them were injured. Mark did the sensible thing and stayed with his wife to make sure she was ok and they waited for police to arrive before leaving the room.”
Mark and Michelle left the bedroom when the police arrived at their home in order to share what had happened and hand over copies of the CCTV footage which documented the incident. “This has been a truly horrible thing to have happened to them. It is a very special time with their first baby on the way and this has been very difficult,” the source added.
In a statement, Essex Police told the Mirror yesterday: “It was reported four suspects had forced entry to an address, carrying out a search of the property before fleeing. Within eight minutes, our officers were on the scene. We are continuing to support and safeguard the victims and are conducting high-visibility patrols in the area.
“We are exploring a number of lines of inquiry including but not limited to forensic opportunities, CCTV and witness statements. Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible.” Mark and Michelle have documented their journey to creating their perfect home on social media. Recently, the account for their property which boasts a staggering 664,000 followers gave fans a glimpse into their “mind blowing” renovation, including their stunning stairway at the three-floor property.
They also gave fans a look at their sprawling garden which overlooks the white building, complete with its very own swimming pool and sunbathing area – decorated with white tiles and a luxury dining area for summer dining. Mark was praised by ex-Metropolitan Police chief inspector Mick Neville who said he did the “right thing” to stay with Michelle and not confronting the intruders.
Mark and Michelle announced the actress’ pregnancy at the end of December 2024, in a sweet social media post. In the picture, the former Coronation Street actress cradled her bump in a white maxi skirt and matching crop top – as beaming husband Mark stood across from her on a beach. In the caption, Michelle wrote: “2025 is going to be a special one for us…”
